Issues & Opportunities

Economic Development:

  • Led and collaborated with our economic development team to attract international companies from all over the world. Working together with our county and region has paved the way for new relationships, new investments, and job creation. My strategic focus on international attraction has set us apart from the other 91 counties in Indiana.

  • Successful establishment of six new Italian company headquarters as well as Canpack, Clearline, PNC Manufacturing, and the Muncie Power Products expansion- undeniably show that our economic development efforts are seconded to none in East Central Indiana.

"My commitment to economic growth doesn't end with attraction- I’ve been instrumental in supporting all companies for long-term success. From helping company executives find housing, introductions to suppliers, and partners, and showing buildings- my team provides round-the-clock support. I have helped our economic development team to stand out as one of the best in the Midwest by promoting the multipliers of business and unmatched resources within our community. Many of the companies that expand here- we’ve beaten other state economic teams like Ohio, South Carolina, Kentucky, Illinois, and Michigan. I pledge to continue going above and beyond to ensure that our residents, as well as our existing and international companies, understand my full devotion to their success."

Helping Others:

Beyond economic development, my service to Delaware County includes active involvement in initiatives that prioritize the well-being of our most vulnerable populations.

  • Vocal on the Isaiah 117 House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of children entering the foster care system. Set to establish its newest location in Delaware County by Christmas of 2024, this organization aims to provide a secure home equipped with various resources, offering essential emotional and physical support to children.

  • Actively involved in the development of a groundbreaking facility to assist those struggling with drug or alcohol abuse. In 2024 construction will begin on the new Delaware County Mental Health and Substance Abuse facility. Nearly every family in our community has been impacted by the national drug abuse epidemic. I am committed to offering a location where those who need help can seek assistance in a controlled caring environment. Contributing to these projects fills me with pride and I am committed to seeing them make a positive impact on vulnerable populations in our community

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Having served on the Delaware County Council and as president of that board for 2 years- I understand the county budgeting process and its impact on taxpayers.

  • Maintained a commitment to fiscal responsibility, ensuring tax rates are low and ensuring that the county budget is balanced.

  • As a Delaware County Commissioner, I prioritized reclaiming funds that rightfully belonged to our community. For example, I worked diligently to ensure the payback of county funds that went to Brevini Wind, Jarden and Dannar- that needed to be returned because of noncompliance with agreements made under previous administrations. My unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility and accountability will continue, ensuring that every taxpayer dollar is used judiciously and for the benefit of our community.

Roads & Highways

  • Work closely with the Delaware County Highway Department to ensure efficient and timely execution of projects and keeping them within budget remains a priority of mine. Recognizing the importance of keeping up with paving county roads, keeping bridges on a replacement schedule and maintenance of other infrastructure is critical to maintaining our community's well-being.

  • I will never waiver from my commitment to maintaining a good working relationship with the County Highway Department- to ensure streamlined processes, optimization of resources, and prioritization of projects that enhance connectivity and safety. This collaboration ensures that vital infrastructure developments align with community needs and are executed in a cost-effective manner ultimately contributing to the overall prosperity of Delaware County.

  • I also have prioritized the use of tax increment financing (TIF) funds for paving many roads in our community.

The Delaware County Commissioners have responsibility for road paving in unincorporated Delaware County outside the jurisdictions of the city and towns.

Law Enforcement

  • I am a dedicated supporter of law enforcement, having served on the Daleville Police Department for 25 years, with 19 of those years spent in a leadership role as the Chief of Police. I care deeply about the safety of the Delaware County community and will continue to show my support for officers and the people we strive to protect every day. In addition to my extensive law enforcement background, I have actively contributed to the community in various roles, including 4 years on the Delaware County Community Corrections Board and as a board member for the Muncie Police Athletic.

  • Furthermore, my time as a County Commissioner has been marked by advocacy for programs that not only uplift law enforcement personnel but also address the rehabilitation of individuals who have been part of the Delaware County Criminal Justice System. One noteworthy initiative I am proud to have supported and signed off on funding for is the Judicial Users Manufacturing Partnership Program (JUMP Program). This collaborative effort involves the Delaware County Courts Probation Department, Ivy Tech Community College, and various local companies and manufacturers. The program aims to facilitate the reintegration of individuals formerly within the Delaware County Criminal Justice System into society by providing support for their transition. The ultimate objective is to enable these individuals to access a range of job and educational opportunities, fostering self-supporting independence. This program holds great significance for me, as it not only contributes to reducing recidivism but also offers individuals a second chance at life—a belief in the inherent potential for redemption that I hold dear.
